I've been looking into this Etsy stuff and trying to get some stuff ready. I took Terry Ted, Baby Bear and Ringo to the post office for a weigh in and was quite shocked at the cost of posting!

Big Bears - UK prices are not too bad £4.45 + £1.99 for packaging but the US price is just out of this world £15.12 + £1.99 packaging again :(

Baby Bears - UK prices are £2.65 + £1.49 for packaging and US prices are £9.50 + £1.49 packaging.

Im not sure people will pay that on top of the price of a bear. I think they would need to be sent in boxes otherwise they would end up all bashed and out of shape if they went in a bag. . . . . Oh what to do?

  1. You could start by giving pp prices for within the UK and ask overseas customers to contact you for the cost of postage. That way you'd have an idea of what people would pay. I think everyone who buys on Etsy must have a good idea of postage costs.
Might it be possible to reduce the size of packaging while still using a box - ie make the bear fit very snugly or cut the box to fit exactly. Or try ebay for reduced prices for larger quantities of boxes?

  2. Have you looked at Folksy instead of Etsy?

It's UK based so you won't have as many o/s sales. I agree that the postal charges would put a lot of people off.

Good luck your work is beautiful!
